The Ask
The client requested an application to efficiently oversee their companies’ policies and procedures from within a SharePoint document library.
The Challenge
The client requested an application that would effortlessly facilitate the addition, categorization, modification, and filtering of documents. They needed a user-friendly interface that matched the design of their company’s intranet, while also enabling users to preview documents and access them through SharePoint. Furthermore, the application was required to include permission controls to regulate who could add new items.
The Solution
To achieve these goals, we partnered with a UX designer to create an intuitive front-end interface. Following the client’s approval of the designs, we proceeded to develop the front-end utilizing Power Apps. The application was seamlessly integrated with a SharePoint document library via Power Automate, taking advantage of SharePoint’s RESTful API. This integration allowed users to create and modify files within the application and view the first page of each document as a thumbnail.
The Outcome
The final solution provided a streamlined and efficient interface for managing documents, seamlessly integrated with SharePoint. Users were empowered to interact with documents by adding, categorizing, and updating them, while the permission settings guaranteed regulated access for the addition of new items. Document previews through thumbnails significantly improved the user experience, facilitating easy and visually appealing file navigation.
